(Updated with links to handouts) DHW to begin budget presentations this morning in JFAC

Department of Health and Welfare will kick off Health and Human Services Week with its budget presentations at 8 a.m. Monday in the meeting chambers of the Joint Appropriations-Finance Committee (JFAC) in the Idaho Statehouse. DHW leadership will present the governor’s budget recommendations for the department, starting with a department overview from DHW Director Richard Armstrong.

The State of the State, which was presented to the 2017 Legislature on Monday, Jan. 9, outlines Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter’s budget recommendations.

The budget-hearing process has been streamlined for how agencies present the Governor’s budget recommendations to the committee. This year, agencies are working more closely with their analysts from the Legislative Services Office to present budget information. The PowerPoint presentations of previous years have been discontinued in favor of a one-page handout. When a handout is available, a link will be provided with the presentations below. The Legislative Budget Book contains documents that analysts will be referring to throughout the presentation.

JFAC will set the budgets for each state agency in February.

Here’s a schedule presentations for Health and Human Services Week, starting Monday, Jan. 30. The meeting begins at 8 a.m. each day and proceeds through each presentation. No times have been assigned. See the daily JFAC agenda here.
